Sedation for Restorative Work

I need a lot of dental work. Can it all be done at once?

Often, yes. One of the biggest advantages of sedation dentistry is the ability to complete extensive treatment in fewer appointments. Procedures that might take months of individual visits can often be consolidated into one or two sedation sessions. You'll wake up with significant work completed, avoiding the anxiety of anticipating multiple appointments.

Is sedation recommended for root canals?

Root canals have an undeserved reputation for being painful—modern techniques make them quite comfortable. However, if dental anxiety makes you dread the procedure, sedation is absolutely appropriate. Many patients choose sedation for root canals simply because it makes the experience stress-free, not because the procedure itself requires it.

What about dental implants?

Dental implant placement is a surgical procedure that many patients prefer to have under sedation. IV sedation or general anesthesia ensures you have no awareness of the procedure, and our medical anesthesiologists monitor you throughout. For patients receiving multiple implants, sedation is particularly valuable as it allows us to complete the work efficiently.

I've been putting off dental work for years. Is it too late?

It's rarely too late. We regularly see patients who've avoided dentistry for 5, 10, even 20+ years. While waiting sometimes means more extensive treatment is needed, modern restorative techniques can address even severe dental problems. Sedation removes the anxiety barrier, and our judgment-free approach helps patients finally get the care they've been avoiding.
